This charming and lovely book is a collection of old Jewish tales and legends, beautifully retold for the English setting by the writer Gertrude Land. Her adaptation has become a classic in the Anglo-Saxon world and is still in print. Some of them are peculiar biblical apocrypha, but we also encounter Jewish variants of well-known fairy tales and adventure stories, such as Cinderella, Sinbad, stories about Alexander the Great or the Golem of Prague.
