A comprehensive selection of the poetic works of the leading American poet, living legend and San Francisco icon Lawrence Ferlinghetti (b. 1919).
The collection brings together Ferlinghetti's work from 1955 to 2011 in all its forms: from lyrical, dreamlike and imaginative poems, to jazz improvisations, hallucinogenically inspired lyrics, suggestive pamphlets and leaflets, to ironic, satirical and unconcealed political poems and poetic bands. The collection presents this street poet, a "solo tragic", as an insider's guide to the postwar cultural history of the United States.
The book contains poems known from Jan Zábrana's translations and Luboš Snízek's translation, as well as poems published in English for the very first time.
The book is published with the financial support of the Embassy of the United States of America in the Czech Republic.
