Masaryk - Patočka - Havel
The book includes texts from 1978 to 2017 on the philosophy of Czech thinkers Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, Jan Patoček and Václav Havel. The main common feature of their thinking is a philosophy inclined towards action. Masaryk, Patočka and Havel understood politics as an activity based on a moral foundation and sought a new spiritual dimension in the life of modern man, which finds no support either in metaphysics or in the traditional form of religion. Their search, even if it sometimes seems to have strayed into a dead end, can also be inspiring for contemporary thinking, especially for the solution of contemporary political problems, such as the role of the nation and the nation-state, the question of the future organisation of Europe, the relationship to violence, war and revolution. Above all, however, it is an encouragement and justification for personal engagement even in situations that are not conducive to such expressions.
