The poet, novelist and traveller Konstantin Biebl (1898-1951) is one of the most important representatives of the interwar avant-garde in Czech literature - the creators of proletarian poetry, poetism and surrealism. At a time when 100 years have passed since the beginning of World War I, this collection commemorates the work of one of the youngest soldiers of that time, who authentically captured the life experiences of his generation in his poetry. Biebel's poetic and narrative art combines playfulness, wit and reverie with concrete images of an often painful reality.
Edited and with an afterword by Daniel Razím.
