Zrození moderního sionismu

Through the portraits of eighteen of the most prominent Zionist thinkers, the well-known Israeli historian and political scientist, Professor Shlomo Avineri (lecturer at universities in Israel and the USA) traces the complicated emergence and development of the Zionist movement from its intellectual beginnings in the first half of the 19th century to the establishment of the State of Israel. In his conception, Zionism is not only an effort to find a national Jewish identity in the context of modern history, but also part of a universal human journey toward self-determination and freedom.
