Zápasící Ukrajina

Ukraine has been resisting unbridled Russian aggression since 24 February 2022. Millions of people have fled their homes in the face of war, tens of thousands have died, and the brutal destruction of kindergartens, museums and churches has not escaped. The world admires the extent to which, despite the massive war pressure, Ukrainians have refused to bend to the will of the Moscow dictator. In the process, the huge country is struggling not only with the superiority of the eastern invaders, but also with its own cultural and historical heritage. The six Czech Television correspondents offer an undisguised critical look at the weaknesses of the defending Ukraine, such as post-Soviet rigidity, endemic corruption, institutionalised machismo and intergenerational tensions. And it finds sparks of hope in the determination of young men and women to defend their homeland and soon turn it into a functioning, free-thinking democracy.
