Zahradou těch, které mám rád
The sixth volume of Milan Kundera's essays is called The Garden of Those I Love.
The author wrote and published the texts of this book in 1989-2008. Together with other reflections, they were published in the book Une rencontre (Gallimard 2009).
The bookmark reads: "This book is dedicated in particular to the art of the novel, which for Kundera is the most European of all the arts (Rabelais, Cervantes...) and can reveal in human life what cannot otherwise be seen (Carlos Fuentes, Anatole France, Curzio Malaparte... ); the book also speaks of what it means to live in a country other than one's own (Vera Linhartová, Škvorečtí, Danilo Kiš...), and pays tribute to those who did not hesitate to go against the prevailing stupidity (the beloved Fellini...); for Kundera, they all form 'the garden of those he loves'."
