The assumption that Jung as a scientist was concerned only with the second half of human life is refuted by his body of work on personality development. Here the author deals with child psychology, education and individuation. He sees the psychology of parents and educators as essential to the process of child maturation. An unsatisfactory parental relationship can therefore cause a psychological disorder in a child. The adult's ability to become himself or herself is a kind of analogy to the maturation of the child, and one has an intense influence on the other - hence the need for parents and teachers to develop their own personality. As Jung aptly points out, "Nothing has a stronger psychological influence on children than the unlived life of their parents."
