The Will to Meaning is a selection of Frankl's lectures given between 1946 and 1980. Their basic theme is as follows: Man is a creature in search of meaning (logos), and to give man help in his search is one of the tasks of psychotherapy - and especially of logotherapy as conceived by Frankl. The committee is complemented by a paper by Frankl's pupil Elisabeth S. Lukas on validating the effects of logotherapy and the Logos Test to measure life's meaningfulness and its opposite, existential frustration. This is one of Frankl's best-known books, which has been enriched in this edition with the essay "Alpinism and the Pathology of the Zeitgeist."
