The monograph presents a comprehensive overview of Platonic research from the end of the 17th century to current trends, which is still lacking in the Czech environment, including detailed analyses of decisive texts by key authors relevant to the issue under study. It also includes an exceptional overview of the domestic, relatively well-represented Platonic scene on an international scale, which is presented in connection with a schematic division of the main tendencies in international research. The author's point of view in interpreting the entire field is the hermeneutical starting points of individual schools and common moments in the methodology of each of the interpreters. The book has two main parts: the first presents modern research up to about 2000, and the second focuses on the hermeneutical starting points and main trends among contemporary researchers. This second part also includes the author himself, his self-reflection as a Platonic interpreter, and his effort to offer the reader a possible way out of the main difficulties of Platonic research. Therefore, considerable attention is paid to the analysis of the very widespread Platonic perspectivism. It is on this basis that Boháček proposes his molecular perspectivism as a certain attempt to take into account the benefits of modern research while continuing the current perspectivist methodology.
