Útěk z doby
Hugo Ball's diary memoir Escape from Time (1927) captures the events of the time between 1913 and 1921 through the prism of the author's fragmentary records. Few have encompassed such a considerable number of often contradictory worldviews and artistic positions: from early Nietzscheanism to expressionist theatre, literary bohemia, Zurich anarchist circles and Dada to Gnostic-oriented mysticism and the subsequent conversion to Catholicism. Its complexity, intensity of thought and truth of experience make Escape from Time a valuable contribution to the cultural history of the first half of the 20th century.
