A critic of Doležal's calibre appears in Czech public life only once in a while and in the Czech environment after 1989 he represents a particularly exceptional and hardly comparable phenomenon. His Events provides a unique annotated chronicle of our times, in which the author, among other things, records and analyses - with extraordinary clarity, intelligence, erudition, wit and also persistence - the essential causes of the gradual decline of local politics and public affairs, in the context of selected historical and world events. Doležal's Events thus also provide possible and inspiring answers to the question of why Czech democracy is constantly evolving for the worse, or why it is not evolving for the better. Their large book collection from 2000-2014, prepared by Adam Drda in collaboration with Terezia Pokorna, is published by Revolver Revue on the twenty-fifth anniversary of the fall of the communist regime in 1989.
