The Old Town Hall in Prague
At a time when the extensive reconstruction of the Old Town Hall tower in Prague, which aimed to return this historic building to its original form, is coming to an end, a 200-page publication under the simple title Old Town Hall is being published. The publication walks through and recalls key moments in the history of the town hall, beginning in 1338.
A separate chapter of the history of the Town Hall, but also a large, richly documented chapter of the publication, is the history of the Old Town Clock and its decoration. The publication goes through the architectural development of the Town Hall, its historical halls, presents the sculpture and artistic decoration, and also introduces important Prague mayors and mayors. An interesting chapter also walks through the eight architectural competitions for the reconstruction and completion of the Old Town Hall, which took place between 1901 and 1987. The publication is richly accompanied and illustrated by more than three hundred historical and contemporary plans, paintings, drawings and photographs. The publication is published in Czech and English
