Eva Roubíčková's Terezín diary is not only a testimony about the fate of a particular person, but also an authentic historical material that brings life in the ghetto closer to us. It captures the executions in the early period of the ghetto's existence, the waves of transports taking Jewish prisoners to the East, the so-called beautification of the ghetto before the visit of the Red Cross delegation, and more. Likewise, we can find here testimonies about the daily worries and the many joys of the prisoners, but especially about the repressions and tragedies that above all determined the character of life in the Terezín forced community. The diary also presents the inner feelings of a young man confronted with the tragedy of his loved ones and the persecution of the entire Jewish community.
