Spinoza, Praktická filosofie

By analysing Spinoza's basic ideas, Deleuze shows that philosophy is not an abstraction detached from the everyday world, but is itself always already a practice and a way of life. In the case of Spinoza's Ethics, philosophy sets itself the following tasks in particular: the suppression of affects that diminish the power to act, the uncovering of human unfreedom, and the pursuit of the joy associated with adequate knowledge and full action. The author gives a very distinctive interpretation of Spinoza's life and work, while at the same time defending his own way of philosophizing.
