Sonety/The Sonnets

The volume begins with Hilsky's study, which has three parts: text and context, literary genesis, reading, interpretation, translation. This is followed by the English original of the Sonnets and their English translation, which are arranged on facing pages and footnoted. The English notes act as a small Shakespearean glossary, while the Czech notes draw the reader's attention to key connections. The volume concludes with an Index of Sonnet First Lines, an Index of Sonnet First Lines, and an index of Czech translations of Shakespeare's Sonnets.
