After the classics Sigmund Freud and C.G. Jung, James Hillman comes up with an original view of dreams and dream work. He draws on classical theories but enriches them in an unconventional way with a new approach drawing on the poetics of mythology. In particular, he connects dreams with the dark side of the soul, with its images and shadows, with images of death. Above all, Hillman's solution in approaching dreams is the courage to imaginative, poetic, metaphorical freedom, the courage to delve creatively into the depths... The theoretical part of the book, which is interspersed with many examples from myth and Hillman's own practice, is followed by reflections on some specific dream motifs.
