The book is yet another contribution to the historiography of this extremely fruitful period of Czechoslovak architecture in an international context. It meticulously documents the course of preparation, the urban context, the foreign context, and also examines in detail the SČSD itself, as well as its role and influence on modern architecture in the Czech Republic. Unlike the two previous ones (Baba. Osada Svazu čs. díla Praha and Osada Baba, Plans and Models, both from 2000), the book focuses in detail on the role of the builders, their fates and life peripetias in relation to the realised housing exhibition in 1932 as well as later completions, it also brings a number of new and previously unpublished archival materials. The publication includes the text of two radio speeches on the exhibition, one by Lubomír Šlapeta, the other by Ladislav Žák. The authors of the book are Vladimír Šlapeta and Petr Urlich, professors of the history of modern architecture at the Czech Technical University, the Technical University of Technology and the Jagiellonian University, and certified experts in the field; another author is the young, talented historian Alena Křížková.
