The new publication fulfils the intention of FOIBOS BOOKS publishing house to publish a book about an equally interesting and attractive Prague district, Barrandov.
For the synthesis of Max Urban's high-quality development plan, gradually filled in with a series of villas and several apartment buildings, and the entrepreneurial efforts of the two Havel siblings created the unique Prague phenomenon of Barrandov.
The film studios - a community of actors, production and technical staff, and excellent technical facilities with a famous open horizon in the immediate vicinity of the studios - added glamour and style to the new district.
This publication guides the reader not only through the realization of Havel's building plans, but also through the history of Barrandov and Barrandov film production, as told by the great film history expert Pavel Jiras, and the development of the entire district up to the present day. In addition to the famous Barrandov villas, the book guides the reader through the Barrandov studios and studios, the famous Terraces restaurant, the Trilobit Bar by Max Urban and Vladimír Gréger, the Pod Habrova colony and other buildings. And also the apartment houses for film employees, the Nový Barrandov housing estate and, in addition, the local abstract and figurative sculptures by Vladimír Preclík, Michal Gabriel, Karel Nepraš and others, which were among the best of what was created in the Czech environment at the end of the 1980s.
The book concludes with the most contemporary building of 2018, the Sky Barrandov Residence, in which the world-famous Czech architect Eva Jiřičná participated.
