An apologetic writing by an early Christian author from the second century, containing both a polemic against the culture and education of the Greek-speaking society of the time and an encouragement to seek wisdom in non-Greek writings. This is not a conventional apologia; rather, the author seeks to prepare readers for a deeper understanding of Christianity by questioning the values underlying Greek society and attempting to bolster the credibility of Jewish wisdom, especially by demonstrating the chronological priority of Moses and his "philosophy" over Homer and all Greek thinkers and poets.
