Praha 1900–2025. Průvodce po moderní architektuře follows in the footsteps of a series of successful publications by the duo consisting of architecture historian Zdeněk Lukeš and photographer Pavel Hroch. It will showcase nearly 200 Prague buildings and the contexts in which they were built. It will be published in both Czech and English.

The book features a foreword by Eva Jiřičná and is organized chronologically into four chapters — the first covers historicist, Art Nouveau, and Cubist architecture from 1900 to 1914, while the second focuses on buildings constructed in Prague between the two world wars. The third chapter is devoted to postwar architecture, ranging from Socialist Realism to buildings influenced by high-tech architecture, and the fourth and final part of the publication features projects completed from the Velvet Revolution onwards, as well as projects that have not yet been realized.

Iconic buildings such as the Municipal House, Plečnik’s renovations of Prague Castle, the Church of St. Wenceslas in Vršovice, the Federal Assembly Building, and the Dancing House, as well as smaller, at first glance unremarkable family and apartment houses, are presented through brief commentaries and contemporary photographs. Each entry includes the building’s construction date, its architects, and its exact address, making the book a useful guide for walks through Prague and for exploring the buildings in situ.
