The Prague Murders Real criminal cases from the years of the monarchy (1880-1918) are in many ways a continuation of the popular series of Prague Stories. They describe more than fifty real criminal cases from the last years of the monarchy. They map the world of Prague prostitution. The author follows the searches of the detectives of the time, the circumstances that led to the capture of the perpetrators. The book also includes cases that were never solved or the crime itself proved in court.

The Prague Murders, True Criminal Cases from the Years of the First Republic (1918-1938) follows on as a natural sequel to the previous volume, The Prague Murders, True Criminal Cases from the Years of the Monarchy (1880-1918).

The book describes not only now forgotten cases, but also events that have become part of the collective memory, but are distorted by the overlay of myths and fictional narratives. These include the story of the gold-toothed murderess from Smíchov, the murder of the bookbinder Tyl in Mala Strana (especially the strange wandering of his body through old Prague) and the tragic fate of the family of the innkeeper from Karlova Street.
