Poetics is the first philosophical work in which poetic art became the subject of theoretical reflection. In it, Aristotle deals, among other things, with the problems of tragedy and epic, which in Greece were considered the most serious branches of poetic creation. The translation of the Poetics is accompanied by a set of short extracts (known as the Anonymous Treatise on Comedy), which is considered to be a testimony to the contents of the unpreserved Book II of this work of Aristotle. The book, translated by M. Mraz, is published in a mirror Greek-Czech edition, with an introductory study and notes.
