The name of the author of the book, Rabbi Aryeh Kaplan, is not unknown to Czech readers. After the titles Meditation and Kabbalah, Sefer Yetzirah and The Book of Bahir, a translation of another of his seminal works has been published: Meditation and the Bible. In it, Rabbi Kaplan shows that the relationship between these two seemingly disparate concepts is much closer than most Bible readers today realize. After an initial delineation and definition of the terms, the author takes us through his knowledge of the ancient tradition of the prophets and kabbalists, introduces us to the interpretation of visions and divine names, and systematically describes various prophetic and kabbalistic meditation techniques. The book concludes with what is called verbal archaeology, which expands (often very surprisingly) on the meaning and interpretation of specific biblical words and verses based on the context found
