In ten chapters, the New York rabbi tells her own journey to God, to humility and acceptance of all aspects of life in a very moving, convincing and humorous way, using many examples from her own experience. The solution is to find the "divine spark," i.e., God's purpose in oneself, and to maintain it. The book is also interesting for its authentic depiction of the environment in which New York Jews live and for its short, entertaining stories about Hasidic sages.
The ten chapters deal with the inner development of a person affected by life's unforeseen events, his move toward true living, entering into a "partnership" with God, finding universal meaning in life's events, and the doubts that come with it.
