The bilingual annual called Kontradikce/Contradictions is a medium dedicated to scholarly research and discussions on the history and present of critical social thought in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as on the "post-communist" situation in other parts of the world. The current edition of Kontradikce responds to the current academic debate and questions related to the reassessment and rethinking of the history of dissent. Kontradikce advocates a new examination of political thought that emerged in Eastern and Central Europe before the radical changes in 1989. The authors of Kontradikce proceed from the assumption that a number of socialist political concepts emerged within dissent as well and that Marxist dissent is not a concept that would represent a contradictio in adjecto. In the framework of such an inquiry, they are primarily concerned with political thought, the contents of critiques, programs and visions, and their philosophical relevance.
