Milena Jesenská

1896–1944

Milena Jesenská was a Czech journalist and translator. She wrote reports from the Sudetenland at a time when little was said about the situation there. She was the first to translate Franz Kafka’s works into Czech. For her resistance activities during World War II, she was sent to the Ravensbrück concentration camp, where she died.
