The monograph Cabalistic Motifs in the Heptaplus of Pico della Mirandola focuses on selected aspects of Pico's "Cabalistic Theses" (Conclusiones, 1486), especially with regard to how they were subsequently transposed and reciprocated in the Heptaplus (1489). Since the Heptaplus itself follows a series of works containing similar motifs (Oratio, 1486, Commento, 1486, and Apologia, 1487), this book examines how the various kabbalistic elements contained in the Theses and the Heptaplus relate to and coincide with each other, and where they differ. The first two chapters focus on Pike's conception of Christian kabbalistic exegesis in the context of the prisca theologia tradition (for example, the concordance aspect or the apologetic-contemplative aspect). The third and fourth chapters then consist of both a translation of Pike's "Kabbalistic Theses" and translations of selected sections from the Heptaplus ("Preface"; "Preface to the Reader"; "The Words of Moses which we shall attempt to interpret"; "The Fourth Interpretation: On the Human World. On Human Nature"; "Seventh Interpretation: On Happiness, which is Eternal Life"; "Interpretation of the First Word In the Beginning").
