Jaroslav Hašek - Sebrané verše

The book brings for the first time in history a comprehensive collection of all Hašek's poems that have so far been found in various documents and publications. The poems were written continuously during his short life. They reflect Hašek's experiences at that stage of his life. Arranged chronologically, they are thus a picture of the writer's fate and a look into the history of the early 20th century. The entire collection is supplemented by rich editorial notes, interesting features from Hašek's life, explanatory notes and unique photographs, mostly from literary and survival archival collections. Some of the poems in the collection were published only in the contemporary press or had not been published before, such as a set of anti-war poetry from the recently discovered wartime diary of the accountant Vaňek, in Hašek's novel "like that of the druggist from Kralupy". On the cover of the bound book, you will find a little-known reproduction of an oil painting of Jaroslav Hašek's portrait by the academic painter Karel Paták. The book will be appreciated not only by admirers of Hašek's work, but also by literary and historical scholars.
