Emilie Schindler, who, like her husband Oskar, put her life on the line to save more than 1,300 Jews from certain death during Nazi rule, lived almost forgotten in Argentina for decades after the war. Only much later than her husband did she receive financial support and official honors, especially from the Israeli and German sides, after a life of great poverty. The memoirs of a brave woman who maintained her integrity in a barbaric time bear witness to the horrors of Nazi rule, but at the same time, without any stylization, we get to know the personality of Emilie Schindler, a spirited heroine who many believe stood in the shadow of her husband, which is the fate of the wives of famous men all too often. The book is supplemented by numerous documents and photographs, mostly published for the first time, and a contribution by Charlotte Knobloch, President of the Central Council of Jews in Germany.
