The interpretation presents the main figures of the medieval tradition of thought from the beginnings of scholastic disputation and Aristotelian reception in the 12th century to Gabriel Biel (+ 1495). In contrast to the interpretation of A. de Libera, already published in the History of Philosophy series, which devotes equal space to the Byzantine, Jewish, Islamic and Latin traditions, Kobusch's presentation focuses on the key authors of the Christian West.
