The novel presents the diary of Florence, a very successful aging woman. A Parisian PR entrepreneur, she divides her life between the big-city job carousel and evenings by the fire in her country house, where she cherishes nostalgic dreams of a more poetic, friendly and real world. Her ambivalence between pragmatism and nostalgia, and the fears of a lonely woman determined to be strong, are captured by the central metaphor of the French Railways: Florence longs for the train journey to remain what it is in her childhood memory, while at the same time, as a PR expert, she is actively involved in the company's transformation in the spirit of ruthless neoliberal capitalism. Which way out of such a labyrinth?
