Professor Jiří Pelcl, who headed the Studio of Furniture and Interior Design at UMPRUM for many years, was also the Rector and later the Vice-Rector for External Relations and International Cooperation, is one of the most prominent designers recognized worldwide (Red Dot Design Award, Good Design Award, National Design Award, Czech Grand Design, ELLE Deco International Design Award). The monograph Jiří Pelcl Design traces the artist's forty-year creative activity in the field of design, architecture, interior and exhibition design, his teaching at UMPRUM, his publishing, curatorial and lecturing activities dedicated to the education and popularization of design. The structure of the publication, which is being published on the occasion of the extensive retrospective exhibition of Jiří Pelclo at the UPM of the Moravian Gallery in Brno (November 2021 - February 2023), is adapted to the concept of this exhibition: the division of design areas according to the materials with which the artist worked during his career. The content also includes an introduction to the principles of design with examples of the development and production process, including the presentation of sketches, prototypes and final products. The authors of the texts are Zdeno Kolesár, Jan Michl, Jiří Pelcl, Klára Peloušková, Petr Volf and Adam Štěch. Graphics by Matěj Činčera and Jan Kloss (Okolo).
