The Book Man as He Is is considered Adler's seminal work and a kind of textbook of individual psychology. Here Adler presents his basic ideas in a clear way, for example, concerning the inferiority complex and the drive for power, the influence of society on the development of the individual, the relationship between men and women, and sibling constellations. In the second part of the book, the author focuses on character description and the interpretation of some specific character traits. Through his interpretation, Adler provides clues on how to shape one's everyday relationships and lets his belief that man is a being who can make choices, is responsible for his behavior, and can change when necessary. The book is being published in English after more than 80 years.
