Cesta do Krkonoš a okolních oblastí Čech a Slezska v roce 1796

A Journey to the Krkonoše Mountains and surrounding areas of Bohemia and Silesia in 1796 was published anonymously. The reason why the author concealed his name from the reader is obvious from the first pages: his opinions could be described as unkind and incorrect even today. According to the fleeting hints, he could have been a Habsburg monarchy official who decided to combine his work duties - which were probably the main reason for his journey - with free thinking and observation. The travelogue, written in the form of letters to an unknown friend, chronicles the nearly month-long journey from Prague through the Jizera Mountains, the Polish slopes of the Giant Mountains and the Adršpach Rocks to the Czech part of the Giant Mountains and back. It mixes sceptical and even scornful glosses on the society of the time and remarks confirming the author's scholarship with extremely impressive descriptions of the natural scenery.
