Céline v Čechách
This narrative book gives a multifaceted and revealing account of the process of acceptance and rejection of one of the most controversial figures of modern literature not only in Bohemia. An annotated selection of correspondence, contemporary responses, photographs and other documents, built on the basis of Céline's life and work, traces the reception of all his texts from the publication of his first novel to the present day, while the Czech critical reception (F. X. Šalda, F. Peroutka, J. Vašica, R. Weiner, K. Čapek, B. Hrabal, the underground, etc.) is placed in an international context. The starting point for the book was a text and image collage of the same name, which the translator of Céline's work Anna Kareninová, on the initiative of the editorial team, prepared for the quarterly Revolver Revue No. 70/2008 on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the publication of the congenial Czech - and the world's first - translation of J. Zaorálek's Journey into the Depths of the Night, and which was followed by a large poll "Céline in Bohemia" in RR No. 74/2008.
