Céline čas nadějí

Readers of the work of French novelist Louis Ferdinand Céline (1894-1961), which Atlantis is publishing in a translation by Anna Karenina, will be interested in François Gibault's three-volume biography of Céline. The first part covers the period from Célin's birth to October 1932, when his novel Journey into the Deep of Night was published. Gibault follows the fortunes of a young boy from the passage of Choiseul, a student in Diepholz, Karlsruhe and Broadstairs, an apprentice to Lacloche, then a soldier, an adventurer, a doctor who returns from the First World War with lifelong effects on body and mind...
François Gibault (b. 1932), lawyer and writer, is an adviser to Céline's widow, Lucette Destouches, and editor of Céline's posthumously published novel, Leap. He received the 1978 French Academy and Academy of Medicine prizes for the first volume of Célinus's biography.
