Intergenerational relationships, secrets in the family, the anniversary syndrome, the transmission of trauma - these are all ways in which the unresolved conflicts and traumas of our ancestors interfere in our lives. These influences are often unconscious, and so we have a hard time recognizing that what we struggle with in our lives runs through our family for generations. To break the vicious circle in the family, therapy using the sociogenogram method can help, in which the individual maps the line of difficulties across generations.
