The collection of three books of poetry by Petr Borkovec, published in the past years by Fra, includes the titles Inland. Selected and New Poems 1990-2005 (2005), Love Poems (2013) and Herbarium to something worse (2018).
The poet and essayist Jakub Řehák has written about the author that Borkovec loves gardens and in his poems he creates labyrinths, mazes not unlike those in Kubrick's The Shining, but where instead of the mad Jack Torrance with an axe, it is language itself that runs rampant. Borkovc's poetry is a language of cold reflections and passionate variations. It is full of traps, trapdoors, mirror images and masks that the poet delights in putting on to outwit us. Situations that the author stages to confuse us.
