In her latest book, Deborah E. Lipstadt addresses the issue of contemporary anti-Semitism, as recent years have seen a striking increase in the incidence of anti-Semitic speech, both physical and rhetorical. The author asks: does all criticism relate exclusively to the state of Israel? Are we seeing antisemitism where there is none? Do some refuse to see anti-Semitism where it clearly exists? She points out that when Jews are the target of hateful rhetoric and bias, logically other minorities cannot feel safe either; it is likely that Jews will not be the end of it. And the reverse is also true: if another minority group becomes the target of hate and prejudice, Jews should not feel immune to such resentment; it is likely that these groups will not end up being targeted either.

The text is conceived as a correspondence dialogue between Professor Lipstadt and the fictional characters of Joe the teacher and Abigail the student. The two young people, concerned about the manifestations of anti-Semitism in their neighborhoods and around the world, ask their mentor questions, and in their answers she reveals the nature, roots, hidden manifestations, and consequences of anti-Semitic tendencies in modern society.
