The volume of Acta Comeniana 34 brings five studies by domestic and foreign researchers focused on the history of philosophy and intellectual communication. Among others, this is the study by Simon Burton (University of Edinburgh) "Encyclopaedic Mirrors of the Soul: Comenius, Pinder and the Transformation of Cusan Optics", in which the author examines the influence of Pinder's compilation of Cusanus' works on Comenius's work, the broader context of Neoplatonic metaphysics and Comenius's reception of optical metaphors of knowledge (eye, mirror, glasses, etc.). Another contribution by Marcela Slavíková (Institute of Philosophy of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic) "Vir non vulgari eloquentia: Joachim Hübner's Elegance of Expression" analyzes nine extensive Latin letters from Joachim Hübner to Comenius and focuses on his sophisticated Latin style. A review study by Věra Schifferová (Institute of Philosophy, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic) critically analyzes Jan Čížek's monograph Comenius and Bacon, while Martin Škára (P. J. Šafárik University, Košice) discusses in detail the edition and translation of Leibniz's dialogue Pacidius Philalethe published by Jan Makovský. The review section includes five other discussions.

In English and German. Czech summaries are attached to the studies.
